I'm a man of few words...unless you get me going on a good conversation. I bartend on the 2nd floor at Masque, stop up and say hi. There's nonstop dance music all night long Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Lights, camera, music. Born, Andreas Baxter in Dayton, Ohio, DJ Venus grew up in the 80's with all it's glitz and glamour. "I remember when I was 5 I used to listen to Laid Back - White Horse over and over." said Venus. "I was in love, the beat, the groove, the sound. When I turned 9, I went to buy my first record, it was Grace Jones - I'm Not Perfect." Venus' DJ career as a DJ all started 9 years ago when he first came out to the gay scene. After months of fine tuning and learning the ropes of the scene, the very young DJ did guests spots and then regularly appeared at Jessie's Celebrity. He remained with Celebrity as their Resident DJ until their downtown location closed in early 2006. At that time, after being discovered by Masque, DJ Venus was named one of Club Masque's Resident DJ's. In early 2007, DJ Venus' year was brought in with a bang as he was named "DJ of the Year" at the annual Masquie Awards at Club Masque in Dayton, Ohio. He's been published in many local and state publications as well as entertainment sites, and has also had the honor of headlining a couple circuit events at Axis Nightclub in Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio Gay Hockey Association.

You can probably find me on level 2. My main job at Masque is lighting. I do everything from running the board to fixing and cleaning them. Lighting is my passion. I put a lot of thought and energy into it. When I am not doing lights I am either behind the bar, at the front door, or running around making sure things are secure. I love my job and I love the people I work with. A lot of time and energy go on behind the scenes and I hope you enjoy Masque as much as I do. Feel free to stop me and say hi. My hobbies include working on my house, love anything outdoors including boating, swimming, fishing, and of course I love my dogs, Leo and Parker.

I love to drink, laugh, have fun, and when those rare moments happen and I am not behind my PC, Masque is the only place in Dayton for a good time!!

Bob Marley once said “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” The moment I read this I knew this was my life motto. I was born and raised in Medway, Ohio. As a kid, I would keep to myself in my bedroom listening to the mix tapes I dubbed off the radio studying what instruments did what and how they worked together. Growing up my passion for music was my life. I learned to play many instruments and I have been in a few rock bands. The first time I heard a dj play was in 2001. It was actually Dj Venus, my partner in crime here at Club Masque. I had never heard dance music until then. There was a song out my Antoine Clamaran called “Get UP” that says “have you ever met those kind of people that don’t quite get it?” That night I got the passion and energy of dance music. I then moved to Tennessee for a year in 2002 during my freshman year of college. I took a job as the lighting tech at a small club in Johnson City, Tennessee. One night the resident DJ quit and I was thrown on the turntables and I haven’t stopped since. Now my whole life is music. The best feeling in the world, just like Bob Marley said, is when you get so lost in the music and it takes you to another level of consciousness and nothing else matters. What drives me is the connection with the crowd and being able to convey what I feel about the music to everyone on the dance floor. One of my goals at Club Masque is to break the mold of just hearing Top 40 all of the time. There are great dance songs being made everyday and I want to be able to introduce Dayton to them. Some of my biggest influences are Michael Jackson, Bad Boy Bill, JJ Flores, Steve Smooth, Incubus, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and David Guetta just to name a few. I’ve always described my style as House music with a heavy rock and R&B influence. Deejaying has given me the chance to travel to places I never thought I would go. I’ve been able to DJ all over the east coast and at the end of the year I’ll be deejaying in Las Vegas. I started my career at Club Masque in May of 2005 as the lighting tech. I’m glad I had that job because it taught me patience and it helped me gain a following making it easier get my foot in the door to one of the biggest clubs in the nation. This is a big step in my life and I hope that it will be a launching pad for my career.

Unfortunately people miss-treat each other but that doesn’t mean you have to. Remember to always give love and expect nothing in return. Although it’s not easy to do, it is the most rewarding. Me in a nutshell... Born and raised in Lexington, KY. I worked in many different areas. Hotels, Restaurant, Clubs, you name it I probably have done it. I’m known for always working. I hate spending down time at home unless it’s with one of my many wonderful friends. You guys know who you are. A couple of months ago I decided to seek out a new life and strive to reach some more of my long term goals. With my heart breaking as I waived goodbye to every night hang outs with my best friends, I packed my bags, got in my car, and drove to towards my dream in Cincinnati, OH. I didn’t know anyone but quickly met some pretty amazing people. I even met a few jerks. I got an apartment with one of my friends from Lexington, who came here to keep me company and start a new life for his self as well. Neither of us where sure that Ohio would bring happiness or cause us more turmoil. I could have stayed and not risked failure but I could have also never had a chance to succeed. With that constantly in the back of my mind, I have kept the fire in my heart from burning out. That fire helped me to reach more of my goals in a matter of months than I had in years before. Think of “LIFE” the board game you find in the Wal-Mart toy department. If you never roll the dice, never make a move, never take a chance….. you will never get any further than you are now. Success is gained by playing the cards life deals you. Every play is a chance to win. When you’re dealt a bad hand learn from it and use it to help you succeed. I have also never forgotten that I can not fight these battles on my own. I constantly rely my faith to keep me motivated. There have been many times I would walk dark roads alone. Never did I feel lonely because my faith constantly held a light ahead of me to guide me.

I'm in school right now and have one year to go...I'm trying to save for a car because my car is going to blow up soon...I would dye for a blue convertible BMW with all black rimes (dream car…we can always dream)... I want to move to the beach one day…I’m a beach bum at heart…well.. I hope to see you all standing across from me at the bar… I got what you need :)~
